Regulatory Counsel, Content & Frontier AI Regulation
Anthropic is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to lead its global legal efforts in online content regulation and to engage with European Union regulators on content and AI regulations. This role is pivotal in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, including the EU AI Act, Digital Services Act, UK Online Safety Act, and emerging frameworks across the Asia-Pacific region. The position is based in Dublin, Ireland, and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams such as Legal, Compliance, Safeguards, Security, Product, and Operations.
Key responsibilities include serving as Anthropic's in-house counsel for online content regulation, covering applicability analysis, readiness, day-to-day advice, and compliance program design and maintenance. The role also involves supporting non-contentious regulatory engagements with European regulators, including notifications, structured dialogues, requests for information, transparency reporting, and codes-of-practice processes. Additionally, the counsel will provide proactive regulatory-readiness counseling on emerging legislation, assess its impact on Anthropic's business and products, and design compliance approaches ahead of obligations taking effect.
The ideal candidate will have a qualification to practice law in at least one EU member state or the UK, with good standing. They should possess substantive expertise in international content regulation, such as the Digital Services Act or UK Online Safety Act, and have hands-on experience advising technology businesses on emerging regulatory regimes. Direct experience engaging with regulators or supervisory bodies in a non-contentious capacity is essential, along with a strong understanding of EU law-making and supervisory practices. Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to diverse audiences are also required.
Anthropic offers a competitive annual salary ranging from €280,000 to €350,000 EUR for this role. The company provides a dynamic and collaborative work environment, emphasizing the development of reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Employees are encouraged to work from the Dublin office at least three days a week, fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation. Anthropic is committed to responsible AI development and offers opportunities for professional growth in a rapidly evolving field.
