Research and Development Co-Op
Legend Biotech is seeking a Research and Development Co-Op to join the Novel CAR Design team in Somerset, New Jersey. This role offers hands-on experience in preclinical research and adoptive cell therapy, contributing to innovative experiments and data analysis that drive our research program.
The Co-Op will assist in laboratory experiments, including mammalian cell culture, virus preparation, and immunological and biochemical assays. Responsibilities include performing transfections for virus production, assessing viral titers using flow cytometry and ELISA-based assays, conducting PBMC transduction, and performing immunoassays to screen and validate candidates with improved efficacy and safety profiles. Additional tasks involve cytotoxicity assays, immunophenotyping, cytokine analyses, maintaining accurate records, analyzing experimental data, and collaborating with senior scientists to optimize experimental protocols.
Candidates should be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a related field. Basic laboratory skills with hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture (immune cells) and standard molecular biology techniques, including flow cytometry, qPCR/ddPCR, ELISA, and immunoassays, are preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills, are essential. The ideal candidate works well independently and thrives in a collaborative team environment. Knowledge of data analysis tools such as Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint), GraphPad Prism, and potentially R and Python is also preferred.
