Research Team Lead
Cato Networks is seeking a Research Team Lead to establish and lead a cross-product research team focused on high-impact initiatives that influence multiple Cato offerings. This role involves driving foundational and strategic research projects across networking, security, identity, automation, and AI-driven capabilities. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise with strong leadership and execution skills to identify impactful research directions, build a high-performing team, and translate advanced research into real platform capabilities used by thousands of customers worldwide.
Key responsibilities include defining and executing the roadmap for cross-product research initiatives, identifying high-leverage research opportunities that impact multiple domains and products, and driving long-term architectural thinking to influence platform evolution. The Research Team Lead will recruit, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of researchers specializing in AI, data, algorithms, networking, and security. Additionally, the role involves leading complex research initiatives from ideation through validation and productionization, designing large-scale experiments using Cato’s data platform, and ensuring research outcomes are measurable, scalable, and aligned with business impact.
The ideal candidate will possess a BSc/MSc (PhD is a plus) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with over 7 years of experience in applied research, advanced engineering, or system-level innovation, and at least 2 years of experience leading technical teams or major cross-functional initiatives. Technical expertise should include a strong background in networking and cybersecurity, experience applying AI/ML in production environments, and hands-on programming experience in languages such as Python, Go, or Java. Strong analytical thinking, strategic vision, and excellent English communication skills are essential.
