Robotic Software Engineer - Aerial Autonomy
As a Robotic Software Engineer specializing in Aerial Autonomy at Applied Intuition, you will be instrumental in designing and integrating complex autonomy and vehicle intelligence systems that span both hardware and software domains. This role involves deploying autonomy algorithms in software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and live test environments, contributing to the development of cutting-edge autonomous aerial systems.
Your primary responsibilities will include adapting and developing modular autonomy capabilities for diverse defense applications, integrating and deploying autonomy solutions onto embedded Linux and other hardware platforms, and interfacing with sensors to collect data. You will troubleshoot complex integration and software issues to ensure high reliability and performance, support live flight tests of autonomy software on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and collaborate with third-party UAS vendors to integrate Applied Intuition's autonomy software onto original equipment manufacturer (OEM) hardware.
The ideal candidate will possess a BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or a related engineering field, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience working with robotic systems encompassing hardware, software, and integration. Proficiency in C++ is preferred, along with experience integrating autonomy or robotics products with Pixhawk autopilots (ArduPilot and/or PX4). Familiarity with communication protocols such as UART, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet, as well as experience developing in Docker and using Linux-based operating systems, is essential. Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented project delivery mindset are also required.
Compensation for this role includes a base salary ranging from $125,000 to $165,000 annually, along with equity options and comprehensive benefits. These benefits encompass health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage, 401(k) retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Please note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on the jurisdiction of employment.
