The Sales Engineer position at MariaDB plc is pivotal in driving successful deal closures and fostering future growth within the Asia Pacific region. This role involves close collaboration with the sales team to present the MariaDB portfolio, including its in-memory compute platform, and to design solutions that address clients' data and database-centric business challenges. The ideal candidate will possess domain expertise and the flexibility to contribute effectively across multiple sales cycles.
Key responsibilities include working directly with customers, partners, and sales leadership to bring deals to fruition. The Sales Engineer will leverage a high level of sales acumen and enterprise technology expertise daily, partner closely with the global sales organization to prioritize resources, and manage stakeholders at all levels, including CIOs, CTOs, and DBAs. Additionally, the role involves traveling as needed to support sales efforts, engineer tangible solutions for customers, and assist in driving deal closures.
Candidates should have 8 to 10 years of hands-on Senior Sales Engineer experience, with strong database or database architecture skills, particularly in MariaDB or MySQL, and a good knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. Experience with in-memory compute platforms such as Redis and Apache Ignite is desirable. A working understanding of other databases and open-source technologies, experience with complex customer PoC engagements, and collaboration with customer success and field teams are also required. The ability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time, along with excellent communication and organizational skills, are essential. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field and English fluency are mandatory.
