Senior Android Engineer

As a Senior Android Engineer at Duolingo, you will join the Short Form Experience Team, focusing on enhancing the core learning experience of our Android application. Duolingo is a leading language-learning platform committed to providing accessible and effective education to millions worldwide. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions that make language learning engaging and effective.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with product design and backend teams to develop, release, and maintain native Android application features using Kotlin. Your responsibilities will include building new exercises that support learners in practicing skills like recall and production in bite-sized formats, as well as creating other methods to help learners build foundational language skills. Additionally, you will mentor junior engineers and set technical direction for the team.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and has programming experience in Kotlin on Android. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively conveying technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Exceptional candidates will have experience building reactive Android apps, designing clean and maintainable APIs, and writing testable code.

Duolingo offers a competitive salary range for this position, with compensation between $177,700 and $300,000 USD annually. This range does not include equity compensation and world-class benefits. The actual salary within this range is determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, and internal equity.
