Senior App Engineer (AI & Automation)
As a Senior App Engineer focused on AI and Automation at LaunchDarkly, you will lead the design and delivery of AI-powered systems aimed at enhancing productivity across the organization. Collaborating closely with the Chief Information Officer and cross-functional teams, you will identify opportunities, define architectures for internal AI workflows, and implement scalable solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
Your primary responsibilities will include leading end-to-end delivery of AI-powered agents and automation systems, from problem definition through production deployment and continuous improvement. You will design architectures for AI workflows that span multiple systems, tools, and data sources, and partner with the CIO to evaluate opportunities and provide input on internal AI strategy and priorities. Additionally, you will make and document build vs. buy decisions, including participating in vendor evaluation and selection processes, and establish production standards encompassing reliability, observability, and safe data handling.
To be successful in this role, you should have strong experience building applications or systems using Python or similar languages, and hands-on experience designing and implementing AI-powered workflows or agents in real-world use cases. A solid data background, including working with databases, data modeling, or analytics workflows, is essential. Experience integrating and scaling solutions across multiple systems, APIs, or platforms, as well as using and extending no-code or low-code automation and AI tools such as Workato or Glean, is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to lead projects end-to-end, including scoping, architecture, implementation, and productionization, along with experience mentoring engineers and contributing to vendor selection decisions, will be advantageous.
