Senior Applied Scientist
Diligent Corporation is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to join our team in Budapest, Hungary. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in machine learning and generative AI to design and implement large language model (LLM)-powered product experiences that address real-world challenges. You will collaborate closely with engineers and product managers to bring modern AI solutions into production, transforming complex documents and language into intelligent assistants and reliable search experiences.
As a Senior Applied Scientist, your primary responsibilities will include designing, prototyping, and refining LLM-based features over extensive document sets. You will orchestrate multistep, agentic workflows and tool integrations, enabling LLMs to perform meaningful actions beyond text generation. Additionally, you will define evaluation frameworks and metrics to assess model quality, relevance, and safety, ensuring the delivery of secure and scalable AI capabilities using AWS services.
The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in building LLM-powered applications, such as retrieval-augmented generation systems, chatbots, or document-centric workflows. Proficiency in Python and familiarity with the modern data and AI ecosystem, including libraries like pandas, NumPy, and machine learning frameworks, are essential. A strong background in solution design, evaluation, and iteration, along with experience in deploying services on cloud platforms like AWS, is highly desirable. A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, is required.
