As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Assets team at Webflow, you will play a pivotal role in developing a next-generation, AI-native Digital Asset Manager (DAM). This initiative is central to Webflow's vision of creating a comprehensive Digital Experience Platform, enabling users to manage their digital assets seamlessly and efficiently. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining backend systems and APIs using Python and related technologies. Collaborating closely with data scientists and machine learning engineers, you will integrate AI/ML capabilities into production-ready backend systems. Your work will involve developing scalable and performant services to support growing data volumes and evolving product needs, ensuring secure and efficient data storage and retrieval with a focus on integrity and resilience.
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience building and deploying backend systems and APIs in production environments. Proficiency in Python or similar backend languages is essential, along with comfort working across services, data systems, and infrastructure. A strong understanding of scalability, reliability, and operability is crucial, as is experience in designing backend services, data models, and service interfaces with attention to maintainability and performance. Effective communication and collaboration skills are also key to success in this role.
Compensation for this position is tailored to align with the cost of labor in different geographic markets. In the United States, the base pay ranges from $165,000 to $225,000, depending on the zone. In Canada (ON & BC), the range is $204,000 to $245,000 CAD. This role is also eligible to participate in Webflow's company-wide bonus program, with target amounts varying by career level and payouts based on company performance against established financial and operational goals.
