Senior Electrical Engineer, Air Dominance and Strike
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join the Air Dominance and Strike (AD&S) Electrical Engineering Team in Costa Mesa, California. This team is responsible for developing high-reliability avionics, embedded processing, and power systems for Group 5 air vehicles and missile platforms. The role involves end-to-end development of avionics systems, including design, integration, testing, and validation processes, contributing to Anduril's mission of transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology.
Key responsibilities include developing high-performance and robust avionics solutions for air vehicle platforms, designing reliable on-board communication systems for high-bandwidth data exchange, and architecting high-speed digital PCBAs. The engineer will also decide on in-house versus outsourced tasks, communicate design requirements with external vendors, collaborate cross-functionally between software, firmware, and hardware teams, and develop hardware validation test plans for subsystem and full-system products.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field, with over 8 years of relevant experience in electrical hardware design. Candidates should have experience designing high-density PCB layouts, a deep understanding of thermal, mechanical, power, and performance trade-offs, and knowledge of high-speed interfaces such as PCIe, DDR, USB, and MIPI. Additionally, familiarity with EMI/EMC susceptibility and mitigation, as well as eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance, are necessary.
Preferred qualifications encompass experience with high-performance System on Modules (SOMs), developing FPGA and ASIC architectures, rapid prototyping, and skills in soldering and reworking microelectronic components. Knowledge in RF investigation and analysis, state-of-the-art hardware systems, software tools, and algorithms for interfaces required for sensors, actuators, firmware development, and inter-communication bus protocols is also advantageous.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $146,000 to $194,000 USD annually, along with highly competitive equity grants. Anduril provides comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans at little to no cost to employees, generous time-off policies including a holiday hiatus in December, and family planning and parenting support. Additional benefits include income protection, mental health resources, professional development reimbursement, commuter benefits, and relocation assistance, depending on role eligibility.
