Senior Engineer, Doors
Archer is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the mechanical design and development of interior and exterior closures for our all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. This role is integral to our mission of advancing sustainable air mobility by designing and operating aircraft that can carry four passengers with minimal noise. The position is based in San Jose, California, and offers the opportunity to work within a diverse and inclusive team dedicated to innovation in aerospace technology.
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for creating 3D models and technical drawings, developing technical specifications and requirements for closures, seals, and mechanical systems, and performing structural analysis and optimization using finite element analysis (FEA) tools. Collaboration with cross-functional teams—including industrial design, airframe, manufacturing, supply chain, certification, and suppliers—is essential. Managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting program milestones and deadlines, ensuring designs meet safety regulations, supporting certification activities and documentation, and participating in design reviews and technical meetings are also key aspects of the role.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent field, along with a minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience in the aerospace industry. Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (preferably Siemens NX), a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and engineering drawings, and experience with FEA tools and structural analysis are required. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, strong project management and leadership abilities, effective communication and interpersonal skills, and experience with mass and cost optimization initiatives are also essential.
Archer offers a competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $180,000, determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
