Senior Engineering Manager, New Initiatives
As a Senior Engineering Manager at Duolingo, you will lead the Chess Teaching team within the New Subjects Pillar. In this position, you will co-lead a cross-functional team alongside a product manager, collaborating closely with data scientists and machine learning researchers. Your responsibilities will include defining goals, shaping experiments, and guiding technical decisions to enhance the chess learning experience. You will oversee the planning, execution, and success of projects aimed at improving key business metrics, such as daily active users, while promoting practices that enhance code quality, scalability, and maintainability.
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience leading and managing software engineering teams, along with over 5 years in software development focused on content or animation creation. A proven track record of successfully executing technical projects spanning multiple engineers over several weeks is essential. Strong written and verbal communication skills are also required to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Duolingo offers a competitive salary range of $200,000 to $300,000 USD, along with equity compensation and comprehensive benefits.
