Senior Flight Performance Engineer, Air Vehicles
The Senior Flight Performance Engineer, Air Vehicles, at Anduril Industries, will be a key member of the Air Dominance and Strike Aerodynamics Engineering Team. This team is responsible for the advanced aerodynamic design and analysis of Group 5 air vehicles and missile platforms, overseeing the full development lifecycle from conceptual design to flight test planning, execution, and analysis. The role is based in Costa Mesa, California, and focuses on creating high-performance, resilient, and scalable systems for complex, contested environments.
Key responsibilities include conducting aerodynamic and flight performance analyses of unmanned air vehicles and missiles, collaborating with the flight test team to plan, execute, and analyze flight sciences-focused testing, and performing stability and control analyses. The engineer will also develop and improve aerodynamic analysis tools, model and simulate aircraft performance, and generate aerodynamic loads.
Candidates must possess a BS or higher degree in Aerospace Engineering and have at least 8 years of experience as an individual contributing engineer. Required skills include experience with aircraft performance analysis and predictions, proficiency in aerodynamic analysis techniques such as hand calculations, vortex lattice methods, panel methods, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and strong programming skills in higher-level languages like MATLAB and Python for internal tool development in a version-controlled environment. The ability to travel as required for testing and the possession of a U.S. Secret security clearance are also necessary.
The position offers a competitive salary range of $166,000 to $220,000 USD, with actual offers varying based on factors such as work experience, education, critical skills, and business considerations.
