Rocket Lab Corporation is seeking a Senior Fluid Test Engineer to join their team in Long Beach, California. This role is integral to the Neutron program, focusing on the design, assembly, and testing of fluid test stands essential for the development of the Neutron and Archimedes test areas. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Director of Manufacturing and Fluid Systems to ensure that test stands meet the stringent requirements necessary for the program's success.

The Senior Fluid Test Engineer will lead the design and construction of the Neutron and Archimedes test areas, develop software for environmental testing and simulation, and oversee the assembly, checkouts, and development testing of Neutron test stands. Responsibilities also include developing procedures and processes for component and engine tests, leading problem containment and root cause investigations, and collaborating with quality teams to drive improvements. Additionally, the role involves performing structured root cause analyses of in-process failures and liaising between production, quality, supply chain, and design engineering staff for complex problem-solving and process changes.

Candidates for the Senior Fluid Test Engineer I position should possess a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related technical field, along with at least 5 years of experience troubleshooting fluid components such as valves, actuators, and regulators during assembly, functional checkouts, or development and qualification testing. Experience in developing and building safe, high-pressure, pneumatic, hydrostatic, and cryogenic test stands, as well as proficiency with instrumentation, controls, and data acquisition systems, is required. For the Senior Fluid Test Engineer II level, a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is expected.
