Senior Machine Learning Engineer
Zip Co Limited is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer to build and scale the systems that enable production-grade machine learning and AI across the organization. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and machine learning, focusing on making ML systems reliable, observable, and scalable. The position offers a remote-first opportunity for US-based employees, with optional in-office time.
The Senior Machine Learning Platform Engineer will own the ML lifecycle end-to-end, from feature pipelines and model registry standards to CI/CD and model serving on Databricks (Azure). Responsibilities include building and maintaining batch and streaming feature pipelines, designing and managing offline and online feature store patterns, deploying and operating scalable model serving endpoints, and implementing CI/CD for ML pipelines and model deployment. Additionally, the role involves developing pipelines using PySpark and Spark SQL, optimizing joins and partitioning, improving reliability and cost-efficiency of distributed data jobs, and supporting streaming workloads using Delta Live Tables.
Candidates should have over 8 years of experience in machine learning with a strong focus on production-grade ML and distributed data systems. Advanced experience with PySpark and Spark SQL is essential, along with a strong understanding of Spark execution, including joins, shuffles, and partitioning. Experience operating ML systems in production, hands-on experience with MLflow, managing feature stores, deploying and monitoring model serving endpoints, and implementing CI/CD for ML workflows are also required. Familiarity with Azure, Databricks, Delta Lake, and integrating with NoSQL key-value stores like CosmosDB is preferred.
