Senior Manager, Autonomy Safety
The Senior Manager, Autonomy Safety at May Mobility will lead the Product Safety team, focusing on the full development lifecycle of autonomous vehicles. This role involves staying abreast of industry best practices and standards, such as UL 4600, ISO 21448, and ISO 8800, to guide the company's safety strategy. The position requires providing safety guidance to engineering development teams and assessing their work products. Additionally, the Senior Manager will be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of Safety Engineers.
Key responsibilities include developing strategies for safe autonomous system development, deployment, and maintenance by referencing relevant industry standards. The role involves systematically breaking down operational design domain components and driving behavior components, ensuring their validation both in aggregate and individually. Collaboration with software, data science, and systems engineering teams is essential to safely train new machine learning models and set safety standards for prototyping, testing, and deploying AI solutions. The Senior Manager will also establish safety launch targets across vehicle behaviors and manage the detailed functional safety case, ensuring schedules and required artifacts are met.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, with at least 10 years of experience in autonomous vehicle development. Demonstrated experience in safety case management from conception to release is essential. Strong communication and presentation skills, an analytical mindset, and a proven track record of problem-solving are required. A high level of initiative and enthusiasm for innovation in self-driving technologies and safety products is also important. Experience with machine learning and AI safety standards, such as ISO 8800 and ISO 24118, is highly desirable.
