Senior Mechanical Engineer, Counter Intrusion
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Sentry Engineering team, focusing on the development of ruggedized hardware products that leverage artificial intelligence for autonomous awareness across various environments. This role involves rapidly developing and scaling product designs to support full-rate production, ensuring deployment readiness worldwide.
The successful candidate will own the hardware design process from concept generation to production realization, applying first principles physics to inform decisions. Responsibilities include leading design reviews, conducting analyses, and executing hardware test plans to ensure product reliability in harsh environments. Collaboration across internal departments is essential for prototype development, failure analysis, and transitioning designs into production. Additionally, the role requires supporting critical hardware demonstrations with internal and external customers and traveling to test sites and vendors as needed.
Applicants must have at least 8 years of mechanical or electromechanical design experience in a professional setting, with a background in immersive technical projects such as Formula SAE or SAE Aero. Proficiency in 3D CAD software and the ability to apply GD&T to create high-quality engineering drawings are required. Demonstrated hands-on fabrication skills and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field are also necessary. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience with NX/Teamcenter, advanced degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and experience developing ruggedized electromechanical assemblies for automotive, space, or military applications. The ability to integrate electronic components into mechanical designs and knowledge of production processes such as machining, sheet metal, injection molding, welding, wire harnessing, and 3D printing are advantageous.
