Rocket Lab Corporation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer I/II to join our Space Payloads team in Tucson, AZ. This role involves contributing to the design, development, and integration of advanced space payloads, supporting missions that range from interplanetary exploration to national security initiatives. As a key member of our Space Systems division, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering innovative solutions for complex space challenges.

In this position, you will be responsible for producing complex mechanical concepts and designs for a variety of hardware and projects. Your duties will include working with machine shops and vendors to fabricate designs, overseeing the integration and testing of these designs, and utilizing investigative and troubleshooting skills to assess and resolve issues in the lab. Additionally, you will communicate effectively with supervisors, project management, customers, and team members across disciplines, and contribute significantly to program and customer meetings and reviews.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline, along with an active U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance with TS/SCI eligibility. For the Senior Mechanical Engineer I level, a minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience on space and/or optical programs is required, while the Senior Mechanical Engineer II level requires at least 8 years of such experience. Proficiency in CAD modeling and drawing, as well as the ability to write clear and comprehensive technical documentation, are essential.

Rocket Lab offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $135,000 to $200,000 USD for positions in California.
