Senior Platform Software Engineer I

Braze is seeking a Senior Platform Software Engineer I to join our team in Austin. This role focuses on designing and building distributed systems that power Braze's large-scale background processing platform, which handles over a trillion jobs daily across Kubernetes clusters worldwide. The position offers an opportunity to work on critical infrastructure components that support our customer engagement platform.

The primary responsibilities include developing internal software frameworks that enable large-scale distributed processing, evolving and extending frameworks built on technologies such as Sidekiq, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of these systems. The engineer will also be involved in managing incidents, participating in on-call rotations, and implementing improvements to prevent future issues.

Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in distributed systems development or platform/infrastructure roles. A strong understanding of system interfaces, boundaries, edge cases, and failure modes is essential. Proficiency in Ruby and Rails is required, with experience in Go being beneficial. Familiarity with distributed systems, message queues, background job processing (especially Sidekiq), and application observability is also important.

Braze offers a competitive compensation package, including equity grants of restricted stock units (RSUs). The salary range for this position is between $128,842 and $232,200 per year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $144,000 and $258,000 per year, including bonuses or commissions.
