Senior Product Engineer, AI
Intercom is seeking a Senior Product Engineer to join its AI Group, focusing on developing AI-powered products that enhance customer experiences. This role involves close collaboration with machine learning scientists and product teams to deeply understand the product, customer needs, and the machine learning technology stack. The AI Group is responsible for defining new machine learning features, researching appropriate algorithms and technologies, and rapidly delivering prototypes to customers.
Key responsibilities include building systems that power Intercom’s flagship AI products, primarily working within the machine learning Python tech stack and occasionally across the product on the Rails application. The role also involves bringing proof-of-concept code to production, ensuring robustness and scalability for real-world use. Additionally, the engineer will partner with product teams to shape the best AI-powered product experiences for customers and contribute to all phases of software development, including ideation, prototyping, implementation, and testing.
The ideal candidate has over five years of experience shipping high-quality products and can demonstrate significant impact in previous work. A strong technical foundation is essential, with deep knowledge of a high-level programming language such as Ruby, Python, or JavaScript. While no prior machine learning experience is required, a willingness to learn and invest in personal development is crucial. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline is preferred.
