Rocket Lab's Optical Systems division is seeking a Senior Program Manager I/II to lead efforts in electro-optical (EO) space missions, ground-based sensor networks, and the development of novel technologies. This role is based at our Optical Systems site in Tucson, AZ, and offers the opportunity to work on mission-critical projects for Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, complete spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, satellite components, and more, with the goal of opening access to space.

The Senior Program Manager will manage multiple contracts, ensuring cost, risk, schedule, staffing resources, and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs. Responsibilities include identifying and mitigating potential risks, developing and executing recovery plans, leading teams of engineers in planning and executing test events, and maintaining clear and consistent communication with internal stakeholders and customers. The role also involves building and maintaining trusted relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders, as well as leading program and customer meetings and reviews.

Candidates for the Senior Program Manager I position should have a bachelor's degree in business, technology, or a related field, along with 5+ years of experience managing technical projects for the US Government. For the Senior Program Manager II position, 8+ years of experience is required. Proven ability to lead a team to the completion of program and project milestones, hands-on expertise with active optical systems, and experience with space EO payloads, test plan development, astronomy, physics, electronics, software, and/or remote-sensing are essential. An active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility and U.S. citizenship are required due to program requirements.
