Senior Site Reliability Engineer
As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Block, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the reliability and scalability of our platform and critical infrastructure. You will be part of a dedicated team focused on building distributed systems that support safe and scalable product development. In this role, you will design and extend platforms to improve system reliability, standardize reliability tools across multiple platforms, and lead the stabilization of high-severity incidents. Your responsibilities will include serving as the primary on-call support for critical services, driving platform-wide reliability improvements, and implementing safe deployment patterns such as progressive delivery and automated rollbacks. Additionally, you will leverage AI-driven systems to enhance observability, accelerate incident detection and response, and reduce operational toil.
The ideal candidate will have a strong drive to identify and resolve complex system issues, demonstrated technical initiative and leadership, and familiarity with AI-driven tooling for observability and automation. Experience running production on-call for high-availability systems, strong incident management skills, and fluency with CI/CD pipelines are essential. Proficiency in monitoring and observability, ability to create evidence-based maturity assessments, and comfort with vendor management are also required. A minimum of 5 years of software development experience is expected.
