Braze is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our Currents team, responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving our data export system at scale. Currents is a robust Kafka-based event pipeline handling tens of billions of messages daily, enabling customers to analyze user behavior in near real-time. This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly collaborative and skilled team, contributing to the development and enhancement of high-scale systems.

Key responsibilities include solving live performance and reliability issues, writing and reviewing code to foster a culture of reliability, practicing sustainable incident response and conducting blameless postmortems, defining and enabling standards for monitoring and performance, bridging the gap between infrastructure and platform engineering teams, supporting and improving services by planning for scale and reliability, and guiding junior engineers in SRE best practices and agile project leadership.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related STEM field, along with five years of experience in software or site reliability engineering. Required experience includes deploying and monitoring live applications using distributed systems like Kubernetes or Docker Swarm, working with alerting software such as Sentry, Datadog, or PagerDuty, utilizing programming languages like Java, Kotlin, or Ruby, managing data in relational and non-relational databases like Postgres and MongoDB, building data pipelines with technologies like Kafka, Sidekiq, or SQS and SNS, leveraging continuous integration tools such as Jenkins or Buildkite, and collaborating with engineers through pull requests and code reviews in version control software like GitHub or GitLab.

Braze offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary range between $129,600 and $232,200 per year, with an expected On Target Earnings (OTE) between $144,000 and $258,000 per year, which includes bonus or commission. Additional benefits encompass equity grants of restricted stock (RSUs), comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance plans, flexible paid time off, retirement and employee stock purchase plans, family services including fertility benefits and equal paid parental leave, professional development support through formal career pathing, learning platforms, and a yearly learning stipend, and a curated in-office employee experience designed to foster community, team connections, and innovation.

Braze fosters a collaborative, transparent, and fun culture recognized as a Great Place to Work®. We are committed to creating equitable growth and opportunities inside and outside the organization, offering a fair, accessible, and inclusive experience for all candidates. If you are driven to solve exhilarating challenges and have a bias toward action in the face of change, you will be empowered to make a real impact here, with a sharp and passionate team at your back.
