Senior Software Engineer (Infrastructure)

Canva is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Core Infrastructure group, focusing on the Cloud Access team. This team is dedicated to enabling secure and efficient cloud operations by developing platforms and automations that provide auditable access to cloud resources without necessitating direct production access. The role is integral to Canva's mission of simplifying design experiences for users worldwide.

In this position, the engineer will design, implement, and maintain scalable, high-availability infrastructure solutions with security as a primary design principle. Responsibilities include developing infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform, collaborating with engineering teams to understand operational needs, and participating in architecture reviews and code evaluations. The role also involves driving improvements in operational excellence through automation, monitoring, and incident response practices.

The ideal candidate will have strong coding proficiency in Golang or Python, along with meaningful experience in designing, maintaining, and automating cloud infrastructure on platforms such as AWS or GCP. Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform is essential. An interest in cloud security and access control patterns is important, with a willingness to build deep expertise in this area. Exposure to deploying and managing containerized workloads in cloud environments, particularly with Kubernetes, is advantageous. Strong communication skills are required to effectively convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
