Senior Software Engineer (Infrastructure)

Canva is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its Core Infrastructure group, focusing on designing and maintaining platforms that enable secure and auditable access to cloud resources without requiring direct production access. This role offers the flexibility to work from Canva's flagship campus in Sydney, other Australian locations, or remotely, empowering team members to choose the balance that best suits them.

In this position, the engineer will be responsible for developing scalable, high-availability infrastructure solutions with security as a primary design principle. Key tasks include collaborating with engineering teams to understand operational needs, building appropriate abstractions, participating in architecture reviews, and driving improvements through automation, monitoring, and incident response practices.

The ideal candidate will have strong coding proficiency in Golang or Python, experience designing and automating cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), and familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform. An interest in cloud security and access control patterns is essential, along with exposure to deploying and managing containerized workloads in cloud environments.
