Senior Software Engineer, Java
CLEAR is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team in New York, NY. In this role, you will contribute to the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of applications that enhance our secure identity platform, which serves over 38 million members worldwide. Our mission is to make experiences safer and easier, both physically and digitally, by transforming how people live, work, and travel.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will advance our capabilities across various industries and domains, focusing on privacy, security, data modeling, and architecture. You will develop and deliver code across the full stack, driving engineering excellence by defining best practices in testing, documentation, and observability. Collaboration with product and other stakeholders is essential to uncover requirements, innovate, and solve complex problems. A strong sense of ownership is expected, with responsibility for architectural decision-making and a commitment to continuous improvement in technology and processes at CLEAR.
The ideal candidate will have over six years of software development experience in Java. Proficiency in cloud-based application development is required, with fluency in technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, and Argo. Strong communication skills are necessary to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Experience in collaborating and mentoring less experienced team members is also valued. A comfort with ambiguity, curiosity about technology, a belief in constant learning, and the ability to work autonomously are essential qualities for success in this role.

The base salary range for this role is $175,500 to $215,000, depending on levels of skills and experience.
