Senior Software Engineer - Live Pay
EarnIn is seeking an experienced and resourceful Senior Software Engineer to join our Live Pay team. This role focuses on developing backend services that enable real-time financial flexibility for our community members. As a pioneer in earned wage access, EarnIn provides products that allow users to access their earnings as they earn them, without mandatory fees, interest rates, or credit checks.
In this position, you will drive the design and implementation of new features, translating complex problems into elegant and maintainable code. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include creating and maintaining test automation to support continuous integration, designing robust microservices integrations via REST/gRPC APIs and messaging patterns, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as data science, design, product, marketing, and analytics. Additionally, you will mentor other engineers through code, design, and architecture reviews, and debug production issues across our services infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of software engineering experience and hold a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline, or possess equivalent industry experience. Proficiency in at least one JVM programming language, such as Java, Kotlin, or Scala, is required, along with experience in major frameworks like Spring or Spring Boot. Hands-on experience with SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) is essential. Familiarity with streaming and messaging technologies like Kafka, AWS SNS/SQS, or AWS Kinesis, as well as experience with continuous integration and delivery tools, will be advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also necessary.
This full-time position offers a competitive salary range of $199,000 to $244,000 CAD, plus equity and benefits. The role requires a hybrid work arrangement from our Vancouver, Canada office, with two days a week in the office.
