Senior Software Engineer - Operating Systems
Applied Intuition is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join its NextGen OS team, focusing on developing the company's operating system stack for future vehicles and new products. This role offers a unique opportunity to build and work on a new full-stack operating system, contributing to key architectural and implementation decisions that will directly influence its development.
In this position, you will be responsible for defining the overall architecture and roadmap of the operating system. Your day-to-day tasks will include developing, designing, and implementing core OS components such as the kernel, system services, runtime, application framework, Board Support Packages (BSPs), and hardware abstraction layers. Additionally, you will engage closely with existing open-source projects, become a committer, and submit RFCs, while collaborating with hardware partners and OEMs to define BSP, HAL, device drivers, and integration strategies.
The ideal candidate will have at least six years of software development experience, with an emphasis on low-level systems or OS development. A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field is required. Deep expertise in C/C++, experience with Unix/Linux kernels or embedded systems, and familiarity with performance optimization, memory management, threading, and concurrency are essential. Proven experience in designing and shipping large-scale software or systems, demonstrated leadership in shaping technical direction and mentoring engineers, and familiarity with open-source processes and tools are also important.
Applied Intuition offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary ranging from $155,000 to $253,000 annually, equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off.
