Senior Supplier Sourcing Engineer
The Senior Supplier Sourcing Engineer at Anduril Industries is responsible for developing strategic supply networks and managing cost structures for the company's hardware products throughout their lifecycles. This role involves close collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and manufacturing, to ensure efficient and cost-effective product development and production.
Key responsibilities include selecting suppliers from an approved list, partnering with strategic suppliers to accelerate product development through activities such as concept scoping, feature trade-offs, cost modeling, joint design development, and design simulations. The engineer will also drive the development and consolidation of manufacturing bills of materials (BOMs), manage capital expenditures during new product introduction (NPI), conduct value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead times and flexibility, complete BOM risk assessments, ensure component qualifications are completed ahead of production, reduce complexity through component and supplier rationalization, lead cost engineering activities to align product costs with targets, and manage ad-hoc cost issues such as tariffs and cost inflation.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field and have at least five years of experience in sourcing engineering, supplier engagement and development, or design of electronic and/or mechanical devices. Expertise in value or procurement engineering or total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis at the component and product level is required. The role requires the ability to travel between 10% and 40% of the time, depending on program needs, and candidates must be willing to relocate to Costa Mesa, California, if not already local.
Preferred qualifications include a master's or advanced technical degree, deeper experience in design and development of electronic and/or mechanical devices, advanced sourcing activities, supplier development, early supplier engagement, familiarity with developing high-tech products in a high-mix, low-volume environment, exposure to fast-paced startup environments, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret clearance.
The position offers a salary range of $146,000 to $194,000 per year, with actual compensation varying based on factors such as experience, education, and critical skills.
