SEO Content Specialist - South Africa (12 month contract)

Canva is seeking a dedicated SEO Content Specialist to join their International SEO team in South Africa on a 12-month contract. This role focuses on creating and managing high-quality, search-optimized content that informs, inspires, and converts local audiences. The position is based in Johannesburg, operating in a hybrid capacity to foster collaboration and support within the team.

The SEO Content Specialist will be responsible for developing and optimizing engaging content, including landing pages and blog articles, that align with Canva’s brand guidelines and resonate with the South African market. Key duties include executing the editorial calendar, monitoring content performance, refreshing existing pages, and enhancing user engagement and conversion outcomes. The role also involves supporting SEO initiatives such as keyword research, competitor analysis, and content planning in partnership with the local SEO team.

Ideal candidates will have native or near-native proficiency in English and proven experience in SEO content writing or content marketing, demonstrated through a successful portfolio. Strong copywriting and editing skills are essential, along with experience in editorial planning and publishing content in a CMS. A solid understanding of SEO fundamentals, including keyword optimization, content structure, and user intent, is required. Familiarity with SEO tools like Ahrefs or Semrush is advantageous.
