Snr ATL Planner
The Senior Above-The-Line (ATL) Planner at WPP Media is responsible for developing comprehensive media plans that align with clients' business and marketing objectives. This role involves translating client briefs into detailed media flows, ensuring that the chosen media strategies effectively reach target audiences and achieve desired outcomes. The position is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, within WPP Media, a leading global media investment company.
Key responsibilities include interpreting client briefs to provide strategic advice on brand communications, preparing regular media reviews such as competitor analyses and media environment scans, and assisting in the development of ATL media strategies that specify the most effective media forms to reach target audiences. The Senior ATL Planner is also tasked with producing plans based on agreed strategies, designing full-funnel plans, collaborating with buyers to manage budget fluctuations, ensuring error-free implementation with the buying team, tracking media plans, recommending necessary changes, generating post-campaign reports with insights, and maintaining commitment tracking of budgets with media vendors. Additionally, the role requires staying informed about emerging media to advise clients on optimal media plans and ensuring that media planning reflects the overall media strategy.
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in an ATL planning role, preferably within a media agency. Proficiency in media planning measurement tools such as 20|20, Systems Planner, Adex, Telmar Suite, and Media Manager is essential. The role demands strong project management skills, the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, and a result-oriented approach with excellent communication and analytical skills. A solid understanding of the media landscape, business principles, and good practices is also required.
