Software Engineer - Backend
Commvault is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Clumio backend team in Seoul, South Korea. This team is responsible for designing, building, and operating cloud-native systems that underpin Clumio's data protection solutions, including the core SaaS platform and systems for backing up and recovering large volumes of enterprise cloud data. The role offers an opportunity to work on critical systems that ensure data safety and business resilience.
As a Software Engineer on the Clumio backend team, you will implement and deliver features and components within the data protection platform. Your responsibilities will include building features and workflows, writing tests, and assisting in the operation and improvement of these systems post-deployment. You will make implementation decisions within established designs, balancing correctness, simplicity, and performance, and gradually take on greater ownership of specific components.
The ideal candidate will have software engineering experience through professional roles, internships, or academic and personal projects. A solid grounding in computer science fundamentals—such as data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis—is essential. Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Go, Java, Python, C++, Rust) is required. The ability to decompose problems into correct, maintainable solutions and a willingness to learn how production systems are built, operated, and debugged are also important.
