Applied Intuition is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in calibration systems for autonomous vehicles and mobile robots. This role involves developing a calibration pipeline to support a growing fleet, ensuring each vehicle can effectively utilize a multi-sensor, multi-modal representation of the environment. The position is based in Sunnyvale, California, with an expectation of in-office work five days a week, while offering flexibility for occasional remote work as needed.

Key responsibilities include implementing software pipelines for calibrating sensor intrinsic and extrinsic parameters across various vehicle configurations. The engineer will design processes to manage calibration lifecycles, oversee data collection and evaluation operations, and collaborate closely with the core calibration algorithm team. Additionally, the role involves developing algorithms for both offline calibration in controlled environments and online calibration to adjust for sensor variations due to operational conditions. The engineer will work with a range of sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, radar, IMU, and GNSS, to enable sensor fusion and enhance vehicle navigation capabilities.

Candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience in developing software components addressing practical engineering challenges. Proficiency in C++ and/or Python is required, along with hands-on experience with relevant algorithms, software frameworks, or tools such as calibration, middleware, benchmarking suites, data sets, and related pipelines. A self-starter attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to quickly adapt to new technical tools are essential. A passion for applying software development expertise to real-world autonomous system applications is highly valued.

The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $180,000 to $250,000 annually, along with equity options and comprehensive benefits. Benefits encompass health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, 401(k) retirement plans with employer matching, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. These offerings are designed to support the well-being and professional growth of employees.

Applied Intuition fosters a dynamic and customer-focused team culture, emphasizing rapid progress and excellence in both products and business operations. The company provides opportunities to contribute to and learn from best practices in the emerging autonomy industry. Employees are encouraged to take ownership of technical and product decisions, interact closely with users to gather feedback, and be part of a team that is making autonomous systems a reality.
