Software Engineer, Cash App - Lending Products
Cash App, a product of Block, Inc., is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Lending Products team. This role focuses on developing and enhancing the systems that provide low-friction access to credit for Cash App and Afterpay users. The Lending Engineering team is dedicated to building complex systems and tools that support the accessibility and availability of lending services, aligning with Cash App's mission to make money instantly available and universally accessible.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including credit risk, legal and compliance, product managers, and fellow engineers, to advance the capabilities of Cash App's lending products. Your responsibilities will encompass leading or contributing to projects from initial hypothesis through to production, ensuring high-quality outcomes. You will design and build clean APIs optimized for uptime, latency, regulatory compliance, and cost-efficiency, while also managing existing Cash services and recommending improvements to engineering practices.
The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience working on complex systems and delivering quality software, with clear expertise in one or more technical areas. A strong curiosity to identify and resolve flaws in complex systems, resilience in navigating challenges across various dimensions, and a self-directed approach with comfort in ambiguity are essential. Familiarity with agentic engineering and an AI-first mentality to augment knowledge and capabilities are also desired.
Block offers a competitive salary range for this role, varying by location. For example, in Zone A, the salary ranges from $180,000 to $270,000 USD annually.
