Software Engineer, Electric Engine
Archer is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Electric Engine team in San Jose, California. As a key member of this team, you will contribute to the development of our all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in the aerospace industry and advance sustainable air mobility.
In this position, you will be responsible for the embedded development and verification of safety-critical software components for the aircraft motor control system. Your tasks will include developing and integrating electric engine controls, creating complex low-level drivers for microcontrollers, and collaborating with systems engineers to decompose item requirements into high-level and low-level software requirements in compliance with DO-178C. Additionally, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop, integrate, verify, and certify complex hardware/software systems.
The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in a related field and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline. Proficiency in C/C++ and Python is required, along with hands-on understanding of communication standards and protocols such as RS-422/485, CAN, ARINC-429, AFDX, Ethernet, TCP/IP, SPI, I2C, and PCIe. Experience with safety-critical software development standards (DO-178C, ISO 26262, ASIL) to high criticality levels (DAL-A/B or ASIL C/D) is essential, as well as experience with control systems and the full software development life cycle.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
