Software Engineer, Financial Platform
Chime is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to the development of a new financial platform that is highly reliable, scalable, and serves as the backbone for Chime's services. This platform will support critical financial activities for millions of Chime members daily. The role involves ensuring the platform is fast, available, secure, resilient, and auditable, thereby building trust with our members. This is a strategic initiative within Chime, offering an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.
Key responsibilities include designing, developing, testing, and deploying components of the financial platform. The engineer will deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure and APIs, and collaborate with the infrastructure engineering team to minimize operational overhead. Developing thoroughly tested code and conducting quality assurance alongside the QA team are essential tasks. The role also involves learning and executing agile methodologies, following a test-driven development approach, and participating in an on-call rotation to address platform issues.
The ideal candidate must have experience in Go and preferably additional backend languages such as Ruby, Java, or Python. A minimum of 4 years of engineering experience is required, with contributions to backend system development. Experience in payment processing systems and a rigorous approach to test-driven development are essential. Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms, cloud-native technologies, and No-SQL databases is a plus. Understanding architectural patterns of large, mission-critical production services and experience in continuous integration/deployment environments are advantageous.
The base salary for this role ranges from $133,000 to $184,000, depending on location, skills, qualifications, and experience. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
