Software Engineer, Firmware (Motor Controls)
Harbinger Motors Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in firmware development for motor control systems within electric vehicles. This role is integral to the engineering team, focusing on designing and implementing embedded firmware that enhances the performance and efficiency of Harbinger's innovative electric vehicle platforms. The Software Engineer will be responsible for developing and optimizing firmware for advanced motor control systems, including implementing Field-Oriented Control algorithms. Key duties involve configuring board support packages for microcontroller platforms, enhancing CPU performance, and ensuring the firmware meets performance and safety objectives. The role also includes testing and validating firmware using real-time simulation and Hardware-in-the-Loop environments, as well as collaborating closely with hardware, software, and power electronics teams to ensure seamless system integration.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of experience in embedded firmware development, particularly in motor controls and electric vehicle applications. Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, a strong understanding of motor control algorithms and digital signal processing, and experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers are essential. Familiarity with communication protocols such as CAN, SPI, I2C, and UART, as well as knowledge of complex timer and cross-triggering peripherals, is also required.
