As a Software Engineer specializing in Kafka at Applied Intuition, you will join the data engine team responsible for developing a central data and machine learning platform utilized across all company verticals. This role offers the opportunity to build foundational workflows encompassing data ingestion, processing, storage, labeling infrastructure, and machine learning systems. Applied Intuition is a leader in vehicle intelligence, accelerating the adoption of safe, AI-driven machines across various industries.

In this position, your primary responsibilities will include designing and building large-scale data platforms to support AI research and autonomy stack development, handling petabytes of multimodal sensor data from real-world driving scenarios. You will work on data curation and tagging platforms that enable efficient dataset discovery, labeling workflows, and quality assessment across diverse driving conditions. Additionally, you will build high-performance data processing systems using modern distributed computing frameworks to transform raw sensor data into training-ready formats.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, along with at least two years of professional experience. Strong backend engineering skills are essential, as well as problem-solving abilities and experience working with cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments. Hands-on experience with modern data stack technologies, including Apache Spark, Hudi, Trino, Kafka, or similar distributed data processing frameworks, is highly desirable. Knowledge of data lake architectures, streaming systems, and workflow orchestration platforms like Flyte is also beneficial.

Compensation for this full-time position includes a base salary ranging from $153,000 to $222,000 annually, along with equity and comprehensive benefits.
