Applied Intuition is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in perception to join our Fallback Stack team. In this role, you will develop perception capabilities that enable autonomous vehicles to detect uncertainties, system degradations, and failures, ensuring they can respond safely. Your work will be integral to our core simulation engine, contributing to the advancement of autonomous vehicle safety and reliability.

As a Perception Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing simulation capabilities and workflows to support real-world perception system development. You will collaborate closely with our sensor simulation team to build a comprehensive range of multi-fidelity simulation models. Additionally, you will work with our infrastructure team to provide enterprise software solutions for engineering, testing, and product teams. Your role will also involve designing perception and uncertainty signals that govern fallback behaviors and deploying production systems that directly impact vehicle safety and operational design domain expansion.

The ideal candidate will have over five years of experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or safety-critical perception systems. Proficiency in C++ and/or Python, along with production-grade software practices, is essential. Experience with machine learning techniques for uncertainty estimation, confidence calibration, or out-of-distribution detection is highly valued. Hands-on experience with multiple domain-relevant software frameworks or tools, such as middleware, benchmarking suites, data sets, and related pipelines, is also desirable.

Applied Intuition offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary, equity options, and comprehensive benefits. Benefits encompass health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage, 401(k) retirement plans with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Please note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on the jurisdiction of employment.

Joining Applied Intuition means becoming part of a dynamic, customer-focused team that values excellence and rapid innovation. We provide opportunities for professional growth and the chance to contribute to the cutting-edge field of autonomous systems. If you are passionate about making autonomous systems a reality and thrive in a fast-paced environment, we encourage you to apply.
