Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and enhance trace-driven power and thermal simulation engines. This role involves integrating power macromodels, workload traces, and thermal solvers into a cohesive and scalable simulation framework. The position is based in San Jose, California, and requires daily onsite presence in accordance with the company's Flexible Work policy.

Key responsibilities include implementing and optimizing trace-driven power and thermal simulation engines, integrating IP-level power macromodels into system-level simulations, and managing time-indexed simulation flows across power and thermal domains. The engineer will also generate transient power maps, perform spatiotemporal hotspot analyses, interface with reduced-order thermal models and CFD-calibrated solvers, and ensure simulation performance, scalability, and reproducibility.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of experience or a Master's degree with at least 3 years of experience. A strong background in C++ software engineering is essential, along with experience in building or extending simulation frameworks. Familiarity with discrete-event or time-stepped simulation architectures, solid software design, debugging, and performance optimization skills are also required.

The company offers a competitive base salary ranging from $138,000 to $206,000 annually, depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Additional benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan, over four weeks of paid time off per year, holidays, sick leave, and various wellness programs.
