Software Integration and Operations
Archer is seeking an experienced leader to join its Flight Software Team as the Director of Software Integration and Operations. This role involves leading the integration of safety-critical software systems, including avionics, batteries, engines, and actuators, to support the development of Archer's all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft designed for urban air mobility.
The Director will be responsible for building and leading a multi-disciplinary team focused on software integration, testing, processes, and overall operations. Key responsibilities include defining and executing the strategic roadmap for software integration across the aircraft development lifecycle, establishing testing strategies across various environments, and driving root cause analysis and resolution of complex system-level integration issues. Additionally, the role involves providing technical leadership for aircraft production, ground testing, and flight testing operations, as well as developing and improving processes, tools, and guidelines to enhance safety, quality, and team efficiency.
Candidates should have proven leadership experience managing technical teams in complex, fast-paced environments, with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. A minimum of 12 years of experience with critical, complex, real-time embedded systems, including at least 5 years in a leadership role, is required. A Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is necessary, with a Master's degree preferred. Deep technical expertise in flight controls, avionics, powertrain, or related aerospace systems, along with extensive experience in systems verification and validation methodologies, is essential. The position requires on-site presence at Archer's San Jose, CA office, with the ability to travel to Salinas, CA, and other locations as needed.
