Software Technical Project Manager
Rocket Lab is seeking a Software Technical Project Manager to join our Space Systems team in Long Beach, CA. This role focuses on managing software development and integration efforts for space communication systems, including space-to-space and space-to-ground communications, payload software, and data security. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineers and report to the Senior Manager of Business Operations.
Key responsibilities include overseeing the development and integration of routers, radios, and laser communication devices across a spacecraft constellation. The role involves managing suppliers and subcontractors, developing and maintaining product roadmaps, and ensuring project milestones are met. Additionally, the manager will design simulation and test approaches for constellation networking and lead agile ceremonies such as increment planning and stakeholder reviews.
Candidates must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field, along with at least eight years of industry experience. A minimum of three years in project management, particularly involving external contractors, is required. Proficiency in network software, the software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, and tools like Jira is essential. U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to program requirements, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance is necessary.
