Sr. Automation Controls Engineer
Archer is seeking a Senior Automation Controls Engineer to design and implement manufacturing automation systems for its all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This role involves developing intelligent manufacturing systems from the ground up, bridging the gap between early R&D concepts and flight-ready hardware.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative machine and process concepts, leading the full controls system lifecycle—including programming PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and servo drives—and drafting detailed electrical schematics. The engineer will also oversee the procurement and fabrication of electrical control panels, support installation and commissioning of new equipment, and develop MES interfaces to production equipment.
Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on automation experience. A minimum of six years of experience in industrial automation, controls, or manufacturing equipment is required. Proficiency in PLC programming, particularly with Allen-Bradley systems, strong electrical troubleshooting skills, and experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN are essential. Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and HMI systems is also desired.
Archer offers a dynamic work environment focused on innovation in sustainable air mobility. Employees have opportunities for professional growth and development, contributing to cutting-edge technology in the aerospace industry. The company values diversity and inclusivity, fostering a collaborative and supportive workplace culture.
