Sr. Battery Test Engineer - Abuse
Archer is seeking a Senior Battery Test Engineer specializing in abuse testing to join our team in San Jose, California. As a leading aerospace company, Archer is dedicated to advancing sustainable air mobility through the development of all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise.
In this role, you will lead and execute comprehensive abuse testing on battery cells, modules, and packs, including scenarios such as thermal runaway, short circuit, over-temperature, overcharge, and overdischarge. Your responsibilities will encompass designing and deploying custom test equipment and controllers, performing data analysis, and creating detailed reports for submission to the FAA. Additionally, you will support the development of novel test procedures and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance battery R&D testing.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field, along with over eight years of experience in cell and battery abuse testing within an engineering or manufacturing environment. High voltage experience is essential, as well as hands-on expertise with cell test/data monitoring, battery module and pack testing, and the design of test fixtures and setups. Proficiency in software tools such as LabVIEW, Python, MATLAB, and experience with a variety of data acquisition systems are also required.
Archer offers a competitive base salary ranging from $134,000 to $174,000, determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
