Archer, an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, is seeking a Senior Lab Automation Software Engineer to join their team. Archer is dedicated to advancing sustainable air mobility by designing and operating all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft capable of carrying four passengers with minimal noise. This role is integral to their mission of revolutionizing urban transportation through innovative aviation solutions.
The Senior Lab Automation Software Engineer will lead automation efforts across multiple integrated test environments and hardware-in-the-loop platforms. Responsibilities include defining test strategies and automation roadmaps aligned with program milestones, developing and maintaining scalable automated test frameworks, and creating automated test sequences for flight controls, actuation, electric engines, and high-voltage systems. Additionally, the role involves integrating automated sequences into real-time simulation environments, establishing regression testing, automated reporting, and data analysis pipelines, and incorporating continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) concepts into testing processes.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Aerospace Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of experience in system-level testing and automation for complex embedded or aerospace systems is required. Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, or LabVIEW are essential. Experience in automating hardware-in-the-loop labs for safety-critical systems and hands-on experience with simulation and test platforms such as NI Veristand and dSpace are also necessary. Preferred qualifications include an understanding of FAA certification processes (ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254) and knowledge of model-based design and verification workflows.
Archer offers a competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $180,000 annually, with actual compensation determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
