Archer, an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, is seeking a Senior Sensor Modeling Engineer to join our team. We are dedicated to advancing sustainable air mobility by designing and operating all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft capable of carrying four passengers with minimal noise. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the development of cutting-edge aviation technology in a collaborative and inclusive environment.

The Senior Sensor Modeling Engineer will be responsible for architecting and designing physics-based sensor models across varying levels of fidelity for eVTOL aircraft. This includes developing models for aviation-grade sensors such as Inertial Measurement Units (IMU), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), air data systems, and radar altimeters. The role encompasses the entire development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to testing and lab integration, ensuring adherence to modeling standards and best practices.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of experience in designing, implementing, and testing simulation models for physical systems. Proficiency in Simulink for large-scale modeling, simulation, and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) integration is essential. A deep technical understanding of various aerospace sensors and the ability to think critically from high-level architecture to low-level implementation details are also required.

The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $140,000 to $170,000, with actual compensation determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Archer fosters a pay-for-performance culture and rewards contributions that support the company's business strategy.

At Archer, we believe that diversity in the workplace drives better insights and success. We are committed to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment that embraces differences and supports all team members.
