Archer is seeking a Senior Staff Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer to join our team in San Jose, California. As a leading aerospace company, Archer is dedicated to developing all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft aimed at revolutionizing urban air mobility. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology in a dynamic and innovative environment.

In this position, you will be responsible for designing and implementing flight control algorithms for novel VTOL aircraft. Your day-to-day tasks will include building simulations to verify and validate system requirements, conducting trade studies to inform aircraft design and system architecture, and collaborating with the Flight Test team to design tests that safely evaluate vehicle capabilities. Additionally, you will analyze flight data to improve our models and author software requirements and test cases that drive the design of the GNC software.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics, optimization, and both classical and modern control theory. A Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field is required, along with at least 10 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink is essential. Advanced degrees and experience with aircraft or rotorcraft performance and handling qualities are considered advantageous.

Archer offers a competitive compensation package, with a targeted base pay between $240,000 and $270,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
