Staff BMS HW Verification Engineer
Archer is seeking a Staff BMS Hardware Verification Engineer to lead the verification and validation of high-voltage Battery Management System (BMS) electronics for their electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This role is integral to ensuring the safety, reliability, and certification compliance of the aircraft's battery systems, aligning with Archer's mission to advance sustainable air mobility.
The engineer will develop and execute comprehensive hardware verification plans, design and automate test setups, and perform environmental and functional qualifications. Responsibilities include leading verification and validation activities, defining test methodologies for BMS printed circuit board assemblies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to derive verification requirements. Additionally, the role involves designing and automating hardware test setups, executing test campaigns to demonstrate compliance with FAA standards, and authoring detailed test reports to support certification deliverables.
Candidates should possess a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, along with over five years of experience in hardware verification, test engineering, or electronics qualification, preferably in regulated industries such as aerospace or automotive. A strong understanding of mixed-signal electronic design, proficiency in developing hardware verification procedures, and experience with environmental and EMI/EMC qualification testing per DO-160G or similar standards are essential. Familiarity with design assurance methodologies per DO-254 or ISO 26262, and hardware and system certification processes under FAA or EASA frameworks is also required.
Archer offers a competitive base salary ranging from $150,000 to $208,000, determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
