Komodo Health is seeking a Staff Data Architect to join their Data Infrastructure team, which is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the foundational systems that power the company's data ecosystem. This team manages platforms such as JupyterHub for data exploration, Airflow for workflow orchestration, Snowflake for scalable data warehousing, and Databricks for advanced analytics and machine learning. The Staff Data Architect will play a pivotal role in optimizing and architecting Komodo's data infrastructure to ensure seamless, performant, and cost-efficient data access, processing, and analysis.

In this role, the Staff Data Architect will be responsible for owning the architecture and long-term roadmap for Snowflake, defining its integration with Databricks and adjacent data stores, and evaluating and piloting new features and cost-optimization tools. They will analyze query execution plans, optimize clustering and partitioning, and guide engineering teams toward efficient schema and query design. Additionally, the role involves monitoring warehouse consumption, adjusting scaling policies, and implementing automation to enforce cost controls. The Staff Data Architect will also build dashboards, scripts, and alerts for proactive performance and cost monitoring, establish metadata tagging for cost attribution, sensitivity classification, and resource ownership, and create and maintain documentation while coaching teams on Snowflake best practices for query performance and cost efficiency.

Candidates should have over 8 years of experience in data engineering or warehousing, including more than 5 years of hands-on experience managing large-scale Snowflake environments in a production setting. A deep understanding of clustering, partitioning, caching, and execution plan optimization is essential. Experience in monitoring warehouse consumption, adjusting scaling policies, and implementing automation for cost controls is also required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of reducing query runtimes and eliminating bottlenecks, as well as experience in building dashboards, scripts, and alerts for proactive performance and cost monitoring.
