Archer is seeking a Staff Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Engineer to play a pivotal role in optimizing the manufacturability, reliability, and scalability of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for our all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. This position bridges the gap between design and production, driving manufacturing excellence to support Archer's mission of transforming urban transportation.

Key responsibilities include leading the PCBA manufacturing strategy for eVTOL applications, establishing scalable build processes from prototype to mass production. The role involves qualifying and verifying manufacturing partners, developing and maintaining DFM standards, providing expert guidance on PCBA designs, driving process excellence at subcontractor sites, conducting materials research, collaborating with eCAD librarians, leading root cause analysis for PCBA failures, and championing yield improvement initiatives.

Candidates must possess a BS degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Materials Science Engineering with 10+ years of experience, or an MS with 6+ years in related fields. Required experience includes developing and implementing DFM processes for various PCB designs in aerospace, automotive, or industrial applications, developing processes for press-fit applications, and a working knowledge of materials and processes used in PCBA manufacturing. Familiarity with IPC-610, experience with subcontractor processes, and the ability to travel frequently (~20%) are also necessary. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential.

The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $172,800 to $216,000, determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Archer is committed to providing a safe workplace and offers a comprehensive benefits package to support the well-being of its employees.

Archer fosters a diverse and inclusive work environment, believing that diversity drives better insights and success.
